When deciding whether a particular artist or band would be good to listen to, it's important to consult your parents, your Christian friends or your youth pastor to find out what they know about it.

First take a look at the lyrics, get a understanding of the ideas or values the artist is putting out.  Ask yourself these things:

1. Do the lyrics promote: Hatred toward others, Drug or alcohol, Adultery, Doubt or blasphemy of God, Homosexuality, Foul language, Lust, Demonic activity, Premarital sex, Violence, illegal activity, Rebellion towards parents or authorities, Worship of something or someone other than God
2. How does the artist's lyrics and lifestyle measure up to biblical standards?
3. Does the message increase my desire for God or  does it increase my desire for  violence, drugs or sex?
4. How does the music or movie make me feel while listening? Do the lyrics promote suicide & depression
5. Does the music encourage me think critically and make wise decisions?
6. Do I feel like I have to hide my music or movie from my parents or teachers?

If Jesus were to physically walk into the room while I was listening, how would I feel, would I be uncomfortable?

Being entertained by other people's sin even though you may not do the things is the same as doing it?
