What We Believe
Believers Temple Word Fellowship, under the direction and guidance of Bishop Calvin Scott, stands behind their motto of being the “Friendliest Church in the Midwest”. They also believe in three important values: Family, Community and Unity. They show it during their services and classes on a weekly basis. The most important thing we believe is the word of God.
Our Mission:
Changing Lives ... Serving ... & Connecting to Impact Our Community
We Believe and stand on the following tenents of faith:
- The Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God: written by the holy men of old as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. (1 Peter 1:20-21)
- In one God who is infinite in power, holy in nature, attributes and purpose; omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent.
- We believe that He was revealed to us as Father in creation, Son in redemption, and Holy Spirit in His comforting grace that never leaves those who trust in Him. (1 Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:6; 2 Corinthians 5:19, Joel 2:28)
- That in Jesus Christ dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; for it pleased the Father that in Him should all the fullness dwell. (Colossians 1:19, 2:9)
- In the virgin birth; that Jesus was born both human and divine. God manifest in the flesh. (St. Matthew 1:23; John 1:14; 1 Timothy 3:16)
- In the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
- In the baptism in water immersion, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost, speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. This constitutes the New Birth. (Acts 2: 4, 38)
- The one who physically dies in his sins without accepting Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the Lake of Fire and therefore has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or repenting. (Hebrews 9:27, Matthew 25:31-46, Mark 9:43-48, Mark 16:15-16)
- The Scriptures teach a life of Holiness without which no man shall see the Lord.
- By the power of the Holy Ghost we are able to obey the command, "Be ye Holy, for I am Holy".
- Entire Sanctification is the will of God for all believers, and should be earnestly pursued by walking in obedience to God's Word (Hebrews 12:14; 1 Peter 1:15, 16; 1 Thessalonians 5:23, 24; 1 John 2:6, 1 Cor. 6:9, Rom 1:19).
- We believe in tithing. We believe that ten percent of all our increase is Holy unto God.
- We believe that Jesus is our High Priest after the order of Melchisedec. Therefore, when we tithe, we tithe unto Jesus, not man (Mal. 3-8-12; Lev. 27:30-33; Heb. 5:10).
- We believe in cheerful giving.
- We believe in bringing God an offering that represents us and how we feel about Him.
- We give to God out of our love and reverence for Him who hath given us all things that pertain to life and godliness.
- We believe that there is no, nor will there ever be, any greater gift than the gift He gave, His son Jesus Christ.
